Upper Moreland Gets $897K Grant To Rehabilitate Bridge

The major funding will allow crews to improve the critical structure connecting Blair Mill Road and Commerce Road to I-276.

UPPER MORELAND, PA — Upper Moreland will get just shy of $1 million from the state to help improve a key roadway and bridge in the township.

The $897,375 grant will rehabilitate the Maryland Road Bridge, which connects Commerce Road to Blair Mill Road and I-276.

"Continuous maintenance of our infrastructure guarantees that our roads and pedestrian walkways safeguard the well-being of our community,” State Rep. Nancy Guenst said in announcing the funding “We're prioritizing projects that directly impact the accessibility and safety of our neighborhoods. These investments ensure sustainable development and enhance the overall quality of life for our residents."

The funding comes from the latest round of grants approved by the state's Commonwealth Financing Authority's Multimodal Transportation Fund.

The round also included $433,442 for neighboring Lower Moreland Township to build sidewalks along Byberry Road.
