Victims ID'd In PA Turnpike Street Racing Crash: Police

The highway was shut down for hours over the weekend after the major incident.

WILLOW GROVE, PA — Authorities have identified the two fatal victims of a crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike over the weekend that they said was the result of street racing.

Desiree Bellamy, 50, of Willow Grove, and Eric Brown, 29, of Philadelphia, were both killed, 6ABC reports.

The incident occurred on I-276 between the Willow Grove and Fort Washington exits just after 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

Two vehicles were going at a high rate of speed when they lost control and slammed into the highway barriers, officials said.

Both Bellamy and Brown were declared dead at the scene.

Passengers of a third vehicle that became involved in the crash suffered minor injuries, state police said.

Turnpike officials said the eastbound lanes of the highway were shut down for hours as crews investigated and worked to clean up the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
