UPPER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Tuesday Morning, the discount retailer in the Southampton Shopping Center, will close sometime "soon" after its parent company declared bankruptcy Tuesday.

The store on 500 2nd Street Pike made the list of a "low-traffic region" store, among the 263 stores Dallas-based Tuesday Morning said it would close in a company statement.

That total is among half of the discount home goods retailer's stores. Tuesday Morning Corp. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month.

With the announcement, Tuesday Morning is offering an "Everything On Sale" at the locations that are closing.

The company did not state when the store would be closing, just that it would be "closing soon."

A call to the retailer Wednesday morning was not answered.

In the Feb. 14 bankruptcy filing, Chief Executive Andrew Berger cited “exceedingly burdensome debt.” In a statement, Tuesday Morning said it had secured a $51.5 million debtor-in-possession commitment from Invictus Global Management to support operations during the bankruptcy proceedings.

Overall, the company has 487 stores in 40 states that employ about 1,600 full-time and 4,700 part-time employees.

Tuesday Morning previously sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2020, closing 200 of its stores at that time, according to MarketWatch.
