Man Ran Meth Lab Near Southampton Daycare: Police

Officers were responding to a burglary report when they found drugs and drug paraphernalia "in plain sight," according to police.

UPPER SOUTHAMPTON, PA — Police in Upper Southampton are searching for a man they say ran a meth lab not far from a nursery school.

Charles Glenn Barton, 37, is charged with operating a methamphetamine lab near a school or playground, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, risking a catastrophe and reckless endangerment.

Shortly after 3 p.m. on June 1, Upper Southampton Police officers responded to a report of a possible burglary in process at 24 Belmont Station. Officers entered the home to conduct interviews and, according to police, saw drugs and drug paraphernalia "in plain sight."

People were cleared out of the home and officers got a search warrant. During the search, they found "a suspected small methamphetamine cook lab," according to the police department.

Police say the items they found were tested and confirmed to have been used to make meth.

Police say anyone who knows of Barton's whereabouts should not approach him. Instead, they are encouraged to call 911.

Located off of Belmont Avenue, the address is near Jolly Tots Nursery and Daycare and about two miles from William Tennent High School.
