UPPER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Upper Southampton Township supervisors have explained the recent resignation of long-time official Marguerite C. Genesio.

In her Sept. 13 letter, Genesio stated to Supervisors Chairman Keith Froggatt that she needed to resign immediately because "several health issues are making this decision necessary."

Froggatt said that Genesio gave him her resignation letter right before the supervisors' Sept. 13 meeting and said she needed to resign immediately for health reasons, stating that she could not serve the township to the best of her ability. The board accepted her resignation at that meeting.

"She was upset she could no longer give the township 100 percent," Froggatt's statement read. "I know Ms. Genesio truly loves the township and had to make a difficult decision."

Froggatt praised Genesio for her 16 years of service to the township.

"She was a true asset," he said. "I know I will miss not having her on the board. I valued her opinion. I and the rest of the board wish her all the best and thank her for a job well done."
