Village Renaissance Faireis only limited by your Imagination

Support the Library and have fun at the 19th Village Renaissance Faire benefiting the Village Library of Wrightstown

Imagination reigns Supreme as does this community faire for a cause

Long time Upper Southampton resident Tom Freidman pictured with a bird of prey above has been a master craftsman and key volunteer for years, why....because he likes making a difference. Imagine yourself in a time where brave knights joust for honor and noble ladies grant their favors. This is a time where legendary King Arthur rules over his land and tries to protect it from the remains of the Roman Empire which threaten his realm. In this land, craftsmen work with their hands to make beautiful goods and talented performers take to the stage and street with songs, swordplay, comedy, and romance.

This world isn’t far away. The 19th annual Village Renaissance Faire in Wrightstown PA invites you to spend a weekend in the world of King Arthur with your family at the local Middletown Grange at 576 Penns Park Rd, Newtown, PA 18940. The faire now features 10 stage venues of entertainment, 50 musical and dance shows daily, as well as dozens of theatrical shows. Admission is still only five dollars for students and under 5 are FREE -- adults are a wee more at $10, still a pittance for all this faire has to offer Parking is FREE. Pets are welcome, and a good tyme will surely be bestowed upon All who enter here.

The faire offers plenty of family friendly games and entertainment with games, puppet shows, and dragons around the village for the little ones to interact with. Children are invited to play in Kid’s Kingdom, join the peasant band, or be entertained by the magic of Merlin. There are flying birds of prey at noon and 4:00 p.m, as well as horse jousting at 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily, as well as carriage rides, pony riders, a trebuchet catapult, crafting pavilions, and plenty of opportunities for interactive entertainment.

Hawks are not the things that take flight, as the aerialist performs hourly, dragons soar between buildings, and attendees, this year can make dragons fly themselves. Period Productions returns this year, running the main story of the day concerning the reign of King Arthur. The company has been delighting faire audiences for years and this year will be no different. Throughout the day they host the opening procession of the day, a living chess match, an Ultimate Joust (and wedding), and they close the day with a pub sing. With skilled performers doing challenging combat stunts, they bring excitement to the faire day.

Reknown Chaste Treasure commands the globe stage four times daily, bookended by flying birds of prey and irish dancing. An archery tournament, weapons of war, and trebuchet launching occur daily. Guests can also enjoy educational demonstrations of Medieval Combat, as well as wire weaving and dancing. The riches are so vast pyrates have made it a port of call for their shenanigans. Pyratical MIS-adventures are abound, educational and entertaining all in one.

The Village Faire invites you to suspend your disbelief for one weekend and join them to come together as a community. “Where else can you enjoy free crafts, period demonstrations, three theatrical ensembles, five musical ensembles, ten dance troopes, and knights jousting on horseback” boasts founder and faire director Ken Hone. As the youngest of three raised by a single mother, he places great value on making the event not only as entertaining as the expensive commercial faires, but also affordable to all. “We do not want anyone to feel they cannot afford to attend…. We strongly believe that the only reason people do not come, is because they do not know such an affordable event occurs in their own backyard.”
