5 5K Races to Run in August
Here are five local 5Ks, all happening in or near Patch towns this month.

Avid runner? Just starting out? Either way, there are plenty of ways to challenge yourself this summer with local 5K races.
Here are five 5,000-meter runs happening in and around Patch neighborhoods this August. Click on the highlighted links for more information:
Brookline Breeze: This 32nd annual 5K run/walk is in the south Pittsburgh neighborhood of Brookline. The Breeze takes place this year on Saturday, Aug. 10. The Brookline Breeze 5K and the Autumn Breezefest are on two different days this year.
Flying Monkey 5K: Proceeds from this 5K will benefit the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. The 5K is on Aug. 17 and moves through the Southpointe Business Park in Cecil Township. Registration information is available on the Flying Monkey website.
Whitehall Borough 5K Race: This 5K run and one-mile walk is set for Aug. 24 and is part of the Whitehall Community Day celebration. Race registration information and a schedule of events are on the borough's municipal website.
Run Around the Square: This event is a 5K run, 1.5-mile fun run and 1.5-mile walk and is happening in east Pittsburgh's Regent Square area on Aug. 24. This 5K has been running for 31 years, and registration information is available on the race website.
Cranberry Township Aquathlon and 5K Run: This dual event is also on Aug. 24, and it's at North Boundary Park. This is a 5K run, 400-meter swim and 2.9K run. Need more info? Check out the website.
