Bucks County Housing Group Honors Volunteers
Bucks County Housing Group Kicks Off National Volunteer Week with Volunteer Appreciation Event to Celebrate Dedicated Team

The Bucks County Housing Group (BCHG) kicked off National Volunteer Week, which is celebrated April 20-26, 2025, with a Volunteer Appreciation Event at the Ivyland New Church, which graciously offered their space. Volunteers of all ages were represented, including team members from the organization’s Doylestown and Penndel food pantries, their food donation pick-up team, leadership team, Board of Directors, Development Committee, and additional volunteers who support the administrative functions at their Warminster location.
The Volunteer Appreciation Event also honored the volunteers who donated a total of 7,500 hours of service over the course of the past twelve months, helping to close the door to hunger and homelessness in all weathers, helping the communities that BCHG serves.
“Our volunteers are incredible. Without each of them, we would not be able to serve as many of the most vulnerable members of our communities across Bucks County,” said Erik Clare, Executive Director, BCHG. “We want to express our deepest thanks to all of them and indeed, everyone who partners with us.”

“We were especially delighted to see April Behrens at the appreciation event,” he added. “April is one of our longest-standing volunteers. April, starting through her church, St. Paul’s in Warminster, with our pantry operations over forty years ago.”
“It was so long ago, I am not sure quite when I started,” said April. “I continue to volunteer weekly. But it is saddening to see ever-increasing numbers of community members facing food insecurity and turning to Bucks County Housing Group for help. It is a personal joy to contribute my time each week and to see the gratitude from children, adults, and seniors who are helped. Knowing I am making a difference in the lives of my neighbors is a wonderful feeling.”
