Former Supervisor Remembered For His Service To Warminster

Richard Luce Jr. served as a Warminster Township supervisor for six years. Township supervisors paid tribute at Thursday's meeting.

WARMINSTER, PA —Warminster Township supervisors paid their respects to former supervisor Richard Luce Jr., who passed away last month.

Supervisor Mark McKee informed the board of Luce's passing during his report at Thursday's supervisors' meeting.

Luce, 75, died Oct. 9 at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital surrounded by his family, according to his obituary by the Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home.

He had served as a township supervisor for six years.

"Richard had a big personality, huge heart, and always lit up the room with laughter. Richard had a passion for steam trains and loved visiting Jim Thorpe. His hobbies included HAM Radio with handles of N3EJH, K3EVA, and AG3L. Richard was a Colonel in Civil Air Patrol, he enjoyed flying and mentoring young cadets," his obituary stated.

In 2020, Luce received Communicator of the Year Award.

Luce was married to Eva Friedrich Luce for 54 years.

In addition to his wife Eva, Richard is survived by his children, Christopher J. Luce and his wife Michelle of Chalfont, Martin J. Luce and his wife Sophia of Doylestown, and Theresa Harris and her husband Steve of Chalfont; grandchildren, Megan Luce, Katie Luce, Olivia Harris, Matthew Harris, and Nick Luce; siblings, Jackie Eagle and Greg Luce.

He was born in Philadelphia and was the son of the late Richard J. Luce Sr. and Jean Humphries Luce.

His memorial service and viewing took place Oct. 14 at the Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain. Interment was private.
