Joint Opinion/Letter to the Editor: Republicans for Ehasz

As Republican elected officials serving the people of Bucks County, we’ve always believed in standing up for fundamental freedoms and bringing responsible, pragmatic leadership to our roles. This is a value we hold dear, and one we’ve seen threatened in recent years.

Unfortunately, Republican Members of Congress, including Brian Fitzpatrick, are increasingly being pulled away from these core values by MAGA extremists and those in the party who fail to resist their influence. As Republicans who value integrity, we can no longer blindly follow party lines when the stakes for our country and Pennsylvania’s First District are so high.

Time and again, Fitzpatrick promotes himself as a “moderate,” but his voting record tells a different story. While he claims bipartisanship, he supported a national abortion ban that would override Pennsylvania law and has consistently backed restrictions on reproductive healthcare. He talks of working across the aisle, yet twice voted for Jim Jordan and later Mike Johnson for Speaker of the House—both of whom sought to overturn the 2020 election and disregard votes from PA-01. His opposition to key legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act and Build Back Better Act—initiatives that have brought investment and jobs to Bucks County—show a pattern of undermining progress for our district.

Despite Fitzpatrick knowing better, he repeatedly changes his position under pressure from party extremes. The people of PA-01 deserve a representative who will stand up for them, not one who falters when it counts.

That’s why this November, we proudly support Army combat veteran Ashley Ehasz as the next Member of Congress for Pennsylvania’s First District. Ms. Ehasz is a proven leader who has commanded troops and flown Apache helicopters over Baghdad. She has the strength, conviction, and integrity to make tough decisions. We need someone like Ashley, who can lead us with courage and clarity.

Whether you’re a fellow Republican, a Democrat, or Independent, consider this: Can you trust Brian Fitzpatrick to resist MAGA extremism and stand up for our democracy? Brian Fitzpatrick has proven he will vote for party over country.

PA-01 is ready for change, and Ashley Ehasz is ready to lead us forward.
