Lucabaugh began his career as a high school English teacher and middle school assistant principal in the Hatboro-Horsham School District before moving to the Central Bucks School District as a middle and high school assistant principal.

From 2007 to 2018, Lucabaugh served as the principal of Central Bucks High School East,
before transitioning to assistant superintendent of secondary education, and most recently, superintendent of the Central Bucks School District.

Throughout his career, Lucabaugh has emphasized creating environments for students to thrive academically and interpersonally, championing access, opportunity, and choice.

“The board is very excited and pleased to introduce Dr. Lucabaugh to our Centennial
community," School Board President Mary Alice Brancato said "His experience, plans, and ideas elevated him to the top of the many candidates the Board reviewed and interviewed. We are truly looking forward to Dr. Lucabaugh’s leadership, knowledge, and commitment to our students. We are excited to welcome Dr. Lucabaugh and to partner with him as we continue working together on behalf of our students and staff.”

Lucabaugh called the opportunity to serve as Centennial's next superintendent "a privilege and an honor."

"I would like to thank the Centennial Board of School Directors for their faith in me. We have important work ahead of us, and I’m confident that together, we can build an environment of excellence where every student has access, opportunity, and choice to become the best version of themselves," he said in a statement.
