Rep. O'Neill Holds Special Hearing, Warminster Family's Dog Still Missing

- The Special Education Funding Commission, led by Rep. Bernie O’Neill (R-Bucks) and Sen. Pat Browne (R-Lehigh/Northampton/Monroe) will hold a series of hearings at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit in Doylestown today at 10 a.m. to carefully examine and develop an equitable formula for funding special education in schools across Pennsylvania. This public meeting will include a discussion of why special education costs more to educate.
- A Warminster family is still on the lookout for Chesty, a rat terrier/beagle mix that has been missing since November 2012. Anybody with information on the lost dog can contact the O'Donnell family at (215) 672-1296.
- Warminster-based Voice and Vision wants to turn a vacant church in Chalfont into a community center, according to a report by Phillyburbs.com.
- The Senate on Wednesday approved a bipartisan deal that ensures lower interest rates on loans for students heading to college this fall, CNN reports. Senators voted 81 to 18 to lower interest rates for undergraduates taking out government loans this school year to 3.86 percent -- cheaper than the 6.8 percent interest rate that kicked in on July 1.
