Route 1 Overnight Construction Planned This Week

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is planning overnight construction on Route 1 this week under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of the highway in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

Drivers are advised of the following travel restriction:

• Monday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 28, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for bridge deck sealing, and rumble strips, and raised pavement marking installations.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur.

All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
