Time For Eagles To Play Like Champions: This Week In Philly Sports

PHILADELPHIA — It's difficult to fault a Super Bowl winner for getting back to the playoffs the following year. It's difficult for teams to repeat as Super Bowl champions as most winners struggle with ego and effort the following season.

But here are the Philadelphia Eagles playing in the playoffs on Sunday.

After what happened with the Philadelphia Phillies to end their playoff hopes, the Eagles can't lay an egg against the San Francisco 49ers at home.

This season of high expectations cannot end on a low note.

This season was one of ups and downs, but the team did finish 11-6 and take the NFC East crown for the second straight year. They did beat the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo, and beat the Los Angeles Rams and other playoff perennials.

They cannot play the same way they did against the Washington Commanders last week and against the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys earlier in the year.

This is the playoffs, and it's time for these Birds to soar and play like Super Bowl champions.

For whatever reason, the Eagles seemed to forget that they clobbered the Kansas City Chiefs and Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce last February.

They didn't even watch their own banner ceremony before their home opener against the Cowboys. It's not like Philadelphia teams win titles every year. They should be celebrated.

Yes, the Birds wanted to turn the page and go into a new season with a clean slate. But these Birds forgot what they did in the Super Bowl. Their offense forgot how to dominate and destroy this year.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts wins big games. This defense looks as great as it did last year.

All of the other NFL Playoff teams don't look scary. All can be beaten. And the Birds should be the cream of the crop.

The Eagles are three wins away from going back to the Super Bowl for back-to-back seasons.

The 49ers, Rams, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers, and Seattle Seahawks can't score on this defense.

And if you've noticed, Hurts and Coach Nick Sirianni do not lose, especially in the playoffs.

It's really Super Bowl or Bust. A repeat can happen. It all starts on Sunday.
