About 75 military veterans attended the annual Maple Point Middle School Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday morning.

The event included a "moving ceremony" featuring eighth-grade students, guest speakers, musical performances, and a Roll Call of Honor for each veteran attending. A group photo of the veterans and students was also taken around a large American flag painted on the field outside the school following the ceremony.

Last Saturday, Lower Makefield Township held its 19th annual veterans parade and ceremony.

On Tuesday, a Veterans Day Observance Ceremony was held at the Yardley Borough Veterans Monument at the intersection of East Afton and Delaware avenues. A march was also scheduled to be held from the American Legion on South Main Street to the Veterans Monument.

Meanwhile, Pennsbury Schools Superintendent Thomas A. Smith issued a statement in recognition of Veterans Day.

"Each year on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, we take time to recognize and honor all those who served honorably in the military, in wartime or peacetime, and perpetuate peace through goodwill and mutual understanding between nations," Smith said. "Pennsbury is a community with strong ties to military service. Fourteen former PHS students gave the ultimate sacrifice in several wars. As the son of a veteran, I feel the commemoration of this day is a matter of historic and patriotic significance. The Pennsbury School District is proud to employ over a dozen veterans who support our mission to educate almost 10,000 students."
