Voter Turnout 2nd Highest For Bucks Co. Municipal Primary In 20 Years

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Voter turnout for primary elections is usually much lower than the November general elections.

But turnout among Bucks County voters for Tuesday's municipal primary election was the second highest recorded by the Bucks County Board of Elections in more than 20 years, according to voter statistics.

Those figures show a continuing trend among voters showing up at the polls.

Voter turnout for the November general election was 81.79 percent, the highest in Bucks County since the board began keeping records.

The Bucks County Board of Elections reported that 25.8 percent of the county's 395,246 registered voters cast 101,926 ballots for school board and municipal races, with 100 percent of the 306 precincts fully reporting unofficial results.

Tuesday's turnout was the second highest for Bucks County since the Board of Elections began reporting voter turnout statistics in 2003.

In May 2021, the county turnout in the municipal primary election was 25.98 percent.

The county separates primaries into two categories: municipal (when there are only local races) and general (when state representatives are running for election).

Meanwhile, general primary election turnout ranges from a high of 41.22 percent in April 2016 to a low of 13.24 percent in 2006.
