2nd Yardley 'Black Lives Matter' Protest Is Friday
About 1,000 people turned out for a similar rally in downtown Yardley on June 4.
YARDLEY, PA — Two weeks after a Black Lives Matter protest in Yardley drew roughly 1,000 people, organizers are planning a second demonstration on Friday.
The "Juneteenth Peaceful Protest For Justice" is set for 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 19, in downtown Yardley around Main and Afton streets. Organizers are asking participants to wear masks and practice social distancing.
"Breonna Taylor's murderers have still not been arrested. One of the police officers who killed George Floyd is out on bail. We must continue to fight for justice!" reads a Facebook page for the event.

Taylor was a black medical worker in Louisville, Kentucky, who was shot eight times and killed by police serving a no-knock warrant at her home. Floyd, who was also black, died in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after a police officer kneeled on his neck for several minutes.
That officer and others involved in the incident have been criminally charged. No officers have been charged in Taylor's death.

On June 4, roughly 1,000 people turned out for a peaceful demonstration in downtown Yardley to grieve the lives lost to police violence and call for and end to systemic racism.
The protest came shortly before thousands more people showed their support for the movement by driving through a vigil at the nearby 9/11 memorial in Lower Makefield.
