Actor Featured In Yardley Historical Association Talk

Doug Schlicher will share his tales on Sunday of growing up in Yardley in the 1950s.

YARDLEY, PA — Doug Schlicher will tell about his adventures as a Yardley boy, actor, and blacksmith during a program hosted by the Yardley Historical Association.

The free presentation open to the public will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Old Library by Lake Afton, 46 West Afton Ave.

Some people have the gift of colorfully sharing their life stories. Schlicher is one of them, organizers said.

His tales of growing up in Yardley in the 1950s, his acting roles, the celebrities he met, and his veer into blacksmithing and colonial crafting are engaging and entertaining.

Using photos and videos, Schlicher will share his experiences —his days working at the local kennel, his widely varying acting jobs, being a Formula One racing buff, a long-distance hitchhiker, an encyclopedia salesman, a motorcyclist, and a craftsman supplying reproduction nails to historic sites like Pennsbury Manor and Williamsburg.
