Bucks Co. Car Break-In Spree Hits Yardley

Police are working with neighboring departments on the recent rash of vehicle break-in attempts.

YARDLEY, PA — A spree of car break-ins that has hit parts of Bucks County has made its way into Yardley.

Over the weekend, Yardley Borough Police announced that its been investigating a rash of entries into and thefts from vehicles in the borough. Police said they are cooperating with several neighboring police departments, all of which have car break-ins reported in recent days and weeks.

Yardley Police shared a video captured by a resident that shows a man trying to get into a car. The original poster said it was shot at Yardley Walk at around 5 a.m.

Police said that, in most cases, the thief will simply try to open an unlocked door and, if the vehicle's door is locked, will move on.

In recent weeks, strings of car break-in attempts have been reported in Newtown, Bensalem, Southampton and elsewhere.

Police were urging Yardley residents:

  • To report all suspicious people, vehicles and activity they see to police at 215-493-2782 or, if it's an emergency, 911.
  • When parking, always take your keys, remove or hide valuables and lock the vehicle.
  • When possible, park under or near exterior lighting or cameras, when available.

Police are asking anyone with captured video or information about the car break-ins to call 215-493-2782 and speak to investigator PFC Charlie Gillock. Residents may also email contact@yardleypd.org.
