Bucks Co. Couple Sentenced For Sexual Abuse Of 3 Children
Leonard F. Hewitt Sr. and Krystyn Anne Smock were sentenced to decades behind bars for their abuse in what is called a "house of evil."
BUCKS COUNTY, PA — A man and woman from Bristol Township were both sentenced to decades in prison for the sexual abuse of three children, which took place for over four years.
Leonard F. Hewitt Sr., 51, and Krystyn Anne Smock, 41, were found guilty of charges related to the sexual abuse of three children under the age of 13, as well as the possession of 40 videos of child pornography, all of which were made by the two of them.
Last year, both pleaded guilt to charges that included rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, photographing, videotaping, depicting on computer or filming sexual acts, and criminal conspiracy. President Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr. sentenced the two of them on Tuesday, Jan. 18; Hewitt received 20 to 40 years and Smock received 15 to 30 years.

President Judge Bateman called their actions "monstrous", and that the "abuse occurred by two people who are supposed to care for them, protect them and love them."
"You were supposed to protect them," he said just before sentencing the two. Both are now required to register as sex offenders for the remainder of their lives.

A father of one victim, who had a chance to share a victim impact statement, called the house Hewitt and Smock shared as a "house of evil," where his daughter had "her childhood stolen from her."
The first victim, who participated in a forensic interview at the Children's Advocacy Center in Lawrence Township, said that Hewitt had abused her on multiple occasions. Happening years before she said anything about this at the age of 10, investigators were able to surmise that the abuse happened when she was 5 years old.
A second victim, interviewed by Bristol Township Detective Alexander Asmann, said she was abused between the ages of 12 and 13.
A third victim, a 14-year-old boy, said that Hewitt showed him videos of Smock abusing another boy of a similar age, with Hewitt filming.
As a result of the evidence, a cell phone belonging to Hewitt was seized by investigators, while three additional cellphones and a laptop belonging to Smock were also seized.
Police and investigators found up to 40 videos of child pornography, featuring Smock behind the camera while Hewitt abused the victims, and vice versa. The majority of the videos were time-stamped, ranging from 2014 to 2019.
"In total, over 40 videos were recovered depicting homemade child pornography with the [three victims]," Deputy District Attorney Kristin McElroy said.
"These defendants are depraved," District Attorney Matt Weintraub said after the sentencing. "What they did to these children is unspeakable. Our only consolation is that these predators will be separated from society for decades."
