Campaign website
Why are you seeking elective office?
It’s not enough for me to want better for my own children it’s not enough for me to just voice my concern, opinion, or suggestions. I want to be part of the solution for all children in Pennsbury. I want to be finding solutions, building bridges, and forging a vision for our future. “People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do.“ -Lewis Cass
That is why I am running for school board Director in the Pennsbury school district. Not just for my kids, but OUR kids. Not just to serve my community, but to collectively lift up OUR community. Because our future depends on it.
The single most pressing issue facing our district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
We have a desperate need for change in our district and it’s time that we were a step ahead of critical issues, instead of two steps behind. Those critical issues include deficits in proficiency in math and reading created by the pandemic and virtual learning, the deteriorated state of our buildings that are ill-prepared for the 21st-century learner, and A board which is out of touch with the needs of our community, educators, and students and is uncomfortable with constructive discourse. We need the engagement of our community, our staff, and our students in order to be successful in the future.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
Our board needs diversity in thinking and professional background to ensure that the massive responsibility bestowed upon us is executed with excellence. I bring the unique perspective of someone who has successfully managed multi-million dollar businesses, as well rolled up my sleeves as the CEO of a start-up. This background, coupled with my business and financial acumen, will make me a valuable asset to our board and community and ensure balanced decision making, robust strategic planning, responsible management of the district’s $218 million budget, and thoughtful engagement of our 1,590 employees.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)?
I am a candidate for a vacated position.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
I believe…
*Schools should be open for in person learning.
*Parents, not politicians, know what is best for their children
* School should balance their budget, just like families do, and operate within their means
* A communities voice must be heard, not silenced
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have successfully managed multi million dollar businesses and grew those businesses despite a variety of budgetary constraints. I’ve also manage large teams of people through times of business turn around as well as times of business success. My variety of leadership experience will help are Board and community as we face our own “turnaround” in Pennsbury as we emerge from the pandemic and look toward to a brighter future.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
“People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do.“ -Lewis Cass
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
My husband Brad and I started our family in Yardley borough over 10 years ago. We chose Yardley as our home because of the excellent reputation of the Pennsbury school district. Since that time, I’ve seen our district suffer under the weight of challenges posed by the pandemic, crumbling infrastructure, and erosion of trust within our community. I am deeply committed to bringing excellence back to our Pennsbury school district through greater accountability, transparency, and community engagement.
