Counterfeit $100 Bill Scammers Strike Again In Bucks Co.
In just over a month, police have reported the fake $100 bills being used in Lower Makefield, Newtown and Warminster.
LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Men who have been passing off counterfeit $100 bills at Bucks County businesses appear to have struck again.
In a report released Friday, police in Lower Makefield Township say that two men used the phony money Sunday at two stores — the Kohl's on Big Oak Road and McCaffrey's on Heacock Road. The McCaffrey's incident happened at 6:43 p.m. on Sunday and the one at Kohl's happened less than 30 minutes later, at 7:15 p.m.
Police said in the report that the men appear to be the same counterfeiters who similarly targeted Venezia Pizza and the Giant store in Morrisville last month.

But those are just the latest in what appears to be a rash of counterfeit scams in Lower Bucks County lately.
In Newtown, police are seeking two men they say used counterfeit $100 bills at the McCaffrey's store there, on Eagle Road. That incident happened on Saturday, Jan. 27. Police said the same men are believed to have tried the same thing at another Newtown business, but they got caught by an employee.

And, earlier in January, two men used fake $100 bills at a Chick-fil-A in Warminster.
On Jan. 2, police say, the men handed a cashier a genuine $100 bill then, after it was verified, they asked for it back and switched it with the counterfeit bill.
It's unclear whether the same men are suspected in all of the cases, or if there's believed to be a group working together. Surveillance images released by police in Newtown and Warminster appear to show different men suspected in the incidents there.
