LOWER MAKEFIELD, PA — The Delaware Canal towpath segment on the Pennsylvania side of the Scudder Falls Toll Bridge is expected to remain closed through October, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced on Thursday.

The canal towpath section near the bridge has been closed since Sept. 20 to allow for the construction of a pedestrian bridge over the canal. Originally expected to end Oct. 8, the towpath is now scheduled to reopen Oct. 31.

When completed, the new pedestrian bridge will provide a safe connection between the towpath and the 1799 House trailhead area and nearby park-and-ride lot off Woodside Road in Lower Makefield, PA.
