Delaware River To Rise Almost 20 Feet By Saturday

The river is forecasted to rise to 19.9 ft by Saturday afternoon. North & South Delaware Avenues are expected to close by Friday afternoon.

YARDLEY, PA — Current forecasts predict that the Delaware River is expected to rise almost 20 feet by Saturday in the Bucks County area.

As a result of recent rainfall, the National Weathr Service's Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service predicts that the river will rise 19.9 feet in Bucks County by Saturday afternoon.

The service observed the river as being at 15.36 feet as of 8:15 a.m. on Friday, April 8.

A flood warning has been issued in the immediate area as a result.

Several nearby towns have already made announcements to residents about closures and safety precautions as they relate to this news.

"We expect to close North & South Delaware Avenues by late Friday afternoon," officials from Yardley Borough said in a statement on the Borough's official website.

"For comparison, the September 2021 high water event was 20.76 ft.," said Yardley Borough Mayor Chris Harding. "Rivermawr residents should move vehicles above the canal by mid-day as a precaution."
