False Arrest, Police Department Scams: Lower Makefield Crimes

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week, including the theft of a vehicle and several fraud scams.

These are the criminal incidents:

ATTEMPTED FRAUD — Unit block of Wendover Road, reported at 2:11 p.m. The complainant reported receiving a phone call stating their daughter was in an accident and someone would be calling back for payment. The complainant recognized this as a scam.

ATTEMPTED THEFT FROM VEHICLE — 400 block of Keating Drive, reported at 8:01 a.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person had entered the unlocked vehicles. Nothing was reported missing at this time. The incident was caught on home surveillance.

July 8

ATTEMPTED FRAUD — 600 block of Wren Song Road, reported at 10:13 a.m. The complainant reported receiving a suspicious check in the mail with instructions on how to cash it. The complainant destroyed the check.

July 7

ATTEMPTED FRAUD — 1300 block of Heller Drive, reported at 12:02 p.m. The complainant reported that an unknown man and woman called them, claiming to be from a police department in Allentown, stating their daughter was arrested and they needed to send $22,000. The complainant realized it was a scam before sending money.

July 6

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT — 2000 block of Waterford Road, reported at 3:57 p.m. The complainant reported lending their vehicle to a known person until July 4. A criminal complaint was filed against the 55-year-old township woman for the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

July 2

THEFTS:

  • 1300 block of Brentwood Road, reported at 2 p.m. The complainant reported theft via fake checks for $8,200.
  • Unit block of Brook Lane, reported at 5:45 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of a Savage Arms Model .250 rifle from the unsecured gun safe sometime between June 15 and June 20.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE —1600 block of Spur Road, reported at 4:25 p.m. The complainant reported that sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed a Glock 19 Gen 5 firearm from the center console.

IDENTITY THEFT — 300 block of Tall Meadow Lane, reported at 6:40 p.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person(s) opened a utility account in Florida in their name and accrued a balance of $788.31.
