LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — A township family who lost everything in a fire that destroyed their home wound up with some good news the other day.

Their missing cat Licorice was found safely and reunited with her loved ones.

The Levittown Fire Company No. 1 assisted the Yardley-Makefield Fire Company in fighting a fire at an Edgewood Road home at 8:28 p.m. Monday, fire officials said.

That fire left the family's home uninhabitable.

Friends and family are now coming to the rescue. Jennifer Gorski has organized a GoFundMe page to raise money for the family.

So far, the GoFundMe page has raised over $40,000 of its $25,000 goal.

Gorski said her friend and neighbor, Lisa Peters, and her three daughters —Mary Katharine, Madalyn, and McKenzie, along with Lisa's parents (Charlie and Gail Pirrello), experienced an "unimaginable tragedy."

They were alerted by a Good Samaritan that their car was on fire in the driveway, and that quickly spread to other vehicles, the garage, and then to the house, Gorski said.

"They left the house with what was on their backs. Neighbors called 911 for them. Sadly, they lost everything, including four vehicles, and the house has been condemned," Gorski said. "Thankfully, all got out safely, but they are facing the immense task of rebuilding their lives from scratch."

Both cats, Licorice and Frankie, were rescued and reunited with the family.

Gorski said that any contribution, no matter the size, will help the family replace essential items and begin to heal from this loss.
