Firefighters Pull Car From Flood Waters: Yardley Borough Police Log

YARDLEY, PA — The Yardley Borough Police Department reported several crimes that occurred in the area from Saturday, April 9 to Sunday, April 10.

Saturday, April 9

  • Police arrived at the 80 block of South Main Street at 2:51 a.m. for a report of a one-car accident. Officers found the Nissan pick-up after observing the vehicle's malfunctioning taillights. An investigation led to probable cause to believe the operator was driving under the influence of alcohol and was involved in the hit and run accident. The driver, a 35-year-old man from Titusville, NJ was charged with DUI and left the scene of an accident.
  • A high water rescue was conducted by police on North Delaware Avenue near Brown Street at 5:09 a.m. Police found a vehicle in the water with the driver still inside when they arrived. Yardley-Makefield Firefighters were able to extract the woman to safety; she was uninjured. Police determined that the Levittown woman disregarded the posted closure signs and attempted to drive through the high water.

Sunday, April 10

  • Accompanied by members of the Lower Makefield Township Police Department, officers responded to a report of a possible armed subject on Main Street and Afton Avenue ar 12:10 a.m. Officers found the man yelling in the street. After being detained, police found that the 35-year-old man was wanted on an open warrant from the Bucks County Sheriff's Department. The man was proceeded and taken to the Bucks County Prison.
