Open Space Referendum Backed In Lower Makefield: Unofficial Results
Lower Makefield residents supported a ballot question calling for open space preservation, according to unofficial results.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —Open space preservation got the support of township residents who approved a special ballot question in Tuesday's general election, according to unofficial results.
With 100 percent of Bucks County's 304 precincts reporting, the ballot question received 14,816 yes votes (68.88 percent) to 6,695 no votes (31.12 percent).

The referendum asked voters to approve the township spending up to $15 million for purposes of financing the acquisition of interests in real property for the preservation of environmental areas and open space for passive recreational purposes and benefits within the township.
Voter turnout was 80.3 percent.

All election results from the Bucks County Board of Elections are unofficial.
The ballot referendum question read:
"Shall debt be authorized to be incurred up to the sum of $15 million for the purpose of financing the acquisition of interests in real property for open space, wherein no more than 30% of the said sum may be used for addressing mediation or other potential existing liabilities to said property or other specific improvements relating to the preservation of environmentally sensitive areas, natural resources, historic land, passive recreation, and cultural purposes?"
