Official honoring ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Yardley monument (intersection of
Afton and Delaware Avenues, across from the Yardley Inn).

This year’s guest speaker is U.S. Army Iraq War veteran Michelle Lynette Rivera.

The Memorial Day Singer is Marge Swider. Reading Flanders Field is Martha Houston while the American Legion Poppy Queen is Charlotte Carver, and the VFW 6393 Poppy Queen is Elaina
Cummings.

The Yardley Main Street parade starts at 11 a.m., and concludes at about 1 p.m.

Organizers are alerting residents that the muster point and parade route are busy with vehicle and pedestrian traffic. They also said that walkers should wear appropriate footgear and that drivers
loading and unloading passengers are asked to lock the vehicle’s transmission into the parked
position.

"The parade is to honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation," organizers said. "The day’s events are educational and historical. They effectively demonstrate the efforts of veterans, community, and government to promote Americanism and to pay proper
regard to all who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live in freedom."

VFW Post 6393 and American Legion Post 317 will be open for supporters and community visitors throughout the day.
