Motorized Bike Crackdown Underway In Yardley

Yardley Police said they've experienced a high volume of calls and enforcement of teenagers on motorized pedal cycles.

YARDLEY, PA — Like many towns, when the weather gets warmer, people take to the streets to enjoy downtown shopping and soak up the sun.

But for some communities, the warmer weather also brings out the teenagers who are out and about on bicycles.

The Yardley Borough Police Department said it has recently experienced a high call volume and enforcement of children and teenagers operating motorized pedal cycles throughout the borough.

Police said that Main Street is where most of the incidents have occurred.

Police are asking parents with children who may have the bikes to review the rules to see what is legal.

"Our main focus is keeping the children safe and keeping parents up to date on the laws so they may also educate their young ones," police said.
