YARDLEY, PA — A new childcare and early-childhood education center is coming to Yardley.

Lightbridge Academy, which has more than 50 locations across the mid-Atlantic and Southern United States and another 50 being built, has broken ground on a new location at 1690 Big Oak Rd. It will be the company's 10th location in Pennsylvania.

"It’s no secret that working parents in Yardley and all over the world have juggled quite a bit lately," said Lightbridge founder and CEO Guy Falzarano. "Many of them have worked from home while also taking care of their children’s personal needs and providing educational assistance. We look forward to providing those parents with the support they need while also giving them peace of mind knowing that their children are safe and receiving a quality educational experience."

Officials broke ground at the Yardley site on Nov. 20.

In the spring, the company rolled out what it calls the Lightbridge Promise, which prioritizes child and staff safety during the coronavirus pandemic. The Yardley location will feature a 3-in-1 air purification and filtration system, enhanced cleaning protocols and screening procedures.

"In order for parents to return to work, whether that is from home or in the office, they need to know their children are well cared for and educated in a safe environment," said Gigi Schweikert, COO and president of Lightbridge.

"For this reason, we took an aggressive approach and looked across industries for the most advanced technology and procedures to implement in our centers. Using these new solutions and extensively training our staff members has provided us with the confidence that Lightbridge Academy is offering the very best to our parents, children, and staff members as we all transition to a more normal state. We look forward to incorporating these procedures at our Yardley location, too."

Lightbridge Academy was established in 1997 by Guy and Julia Falzarano. It serves children ages six weeks through kindergarten, as well as hosting special programs for children up to 10 years old.
