YARDLEY, PA — Pita Chip, a Philadelphia-based Middle Eastern restaurant chain, will be opening its third location in Yardleyon Wednesday.

The third location will open in the Oxford Oaks Shopping Center, located at 1581 Big Oak Road in Yardley. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned at noon and will be followed by special events that will benefit the new location. This will be the first of many suburban locations the Philadelphia-based eatery plans on expanding into.

The quick-serve restaurant was founded in 2015 by Omar Alsaadi and Mouhanad Kabbani, who opened the first location on 1600 North Broad Street at Temple University. The second Temple location was opened in 2018 on 3601 Market Street, following three years of successful business at the first location.

The owners announced the opening of the Bucks County location back in December. This was followed by a pop-up food truck being held outside their then-upcoming location to support the new restaurant. The new location will be 3,500 square feet with seating for up to 68, significantly more space and seating than the business’ first two locations.

"We are very excited to finally bring this brand to the suburbs after two years of planning, and I know Yardley is ready for us," Alsaadi said. "We’ve met the community, we’ve had a preview event, and we are so excited to be welcomed by the wonderful people of Bucks County. We feel this is a concept that the community has been missing, and it’s a perfect start for our expansion to surrounding suburbs as well."

The ribbon-cutting will be followed by dinners on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The proceeds from each will benefit Yardley-area non-profits Caring for Friends, an organization dedicated to feeding people in the Philadelphia area, and Congregation Kol Emet, a reconstructionist Jewish synagogue, which is located about five miles from the restaurant in Morrisville.

Soon, Bucks County residents will be able to enjoy the delicious Middle Eastern dishes that Philadelphia residents and Temple students have long enjoyed, including salad bowls, rice bowls, and wraps filled with fresh falafel, chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, and roasted vegetables, as well as hummus and sides.
