Yardley Raised A Pride Flag On Monday. See The Celebration.

Yardley held its annual ceremony in front of Borough Hall on Tuesday night.

YARDLEY, PA — With Pride Month arriving, the borough gathered once again to raise its Pride Flag at Borough Hall.

On Tuesday night, residents gathered to celebrate LGBTQ culture, rights, and identity. The event was sponsored by Yardley Tattoo.

Yardley Council President Caroline Thompson said the event has grown since the first Pride flag raising in 2021.

"In a town rooted in Quaker values of peace and equality, we honor the undeniable truth worth honoring not just in June but every day — every person deserves to be safe, seen, and celebrated," Thompson shared in a Facebook post. "We fly that promise high in Yardley Borough, not just at Borough Hall but all around our town at businesses and homes."

Thompson remembers how the first flag-raising ceremony featured a few council members fumbling with flag grommets, a ladder, and 6-8 members of the public.

It's grown to a "beautiful crowd gathered together standing on tiptoe to hear and see around all the people who showed up to support."

Thompson thanked the Yardley Borough Police Department for covering the event.

"The view of officers directing traffic with a pride flag tucked into the breast pocket of their uniform was especially affirming and poignant," she said.
