School Safety Tips Issued By Lower Makefield Police

Police are providing tips as the 2025-2026 school year began this week in the Pennsbury School District.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Now that school has begun, the Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released a list of tips to help keep students safe.

Lower Makefield Police are reminding students, parents, and caregivers of some important safety tips to ensure a safe and successful academic year:

Walking or Biking to School

  • Always walk or bike with a buddy, especially for younger students.
  • Use designated crosswalks and follow traffic signals.
  • Wear bright or reflective clothing to increase visibility.
  • Keep headphones and electronic devices put away while walking or biking.

Bus Safety

  • Arrive at the bus stop early and stay away from the street.
  • Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before boarding.
  • Stay seated and keep your seatbelt on (if equipped) while the bus is in motion.
  • Be respectful and courteous to the bus driver and fellow passengers.

Personal Safety

  • Never talk to strangers or accept anything from someone you don't know.
  • Keep personal belongings secure and out of sight.
  • Report any suspicious activity or bullying to a trusted adult.
  • Stay informed about school safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Online Safety

  • Be cautious when sharing personal information online.
  • Avoid interacting with strangers on social media or online platforms.
  • Report any online harassment or inappropriate content to a trusted adult.
  • Use strong passwords and keep them confidential.
