Sextortion Scam, Hit-And-Run Arrest: Lower Makefield Crimes

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week, including an arrest in a hit-and-run crash.

RETAIL THEFT — 500 block of West Trenton Avenue at CVS, reported at 12:48 p.m. An employee reported that an unknown man entered the store and removed $499.64 of merchandise without paying.

THEFT — 1700 block of Makefield Road, reported at 8:06 a.m. The complainant reported hiring a moving company from Facebook. Once they sent them payment, the movers left.
July 14
THEFT FROM VEHICLE — 600 block of Rose Hollow Road, reported at 9:33 a.m. The complainant reported that sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed their purse, which contained their driver’s license, a birth certificate, passport, social security card, and $180.
July 13
THEFT ARREST — 200 block of Sherwood Drive, reported at 1:48 p.m. On May 27, the complainant reported entering into an agreement for the replacement windows with a known man on Oct. 25 and paying a $500 deposit. It was agreed that work would begin when the windows were delivered. By January, the victim had not heard anything and attempted to get their money back on multiple occasions. The man was advised he had until May 31 to return the money or charges would be filed. An arrest warrant was issued on June 3. The 52-year-old Morrisville man was taken into custody by Falls Township Police and turned over to LMT Police. The man was arraigned by District Justice Wagner and was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
SOLICITING — 1700 block of Covington Road, reported at 1:39 p.m. The complainant reported Jack & Jill ice cream truck was in the area after having their solicitor’s permit revoked.
PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS — Cardinal Drive and Rose Hollow Road, reported at 4:42 p.m. Police responded to the report of a check on the well-being at the location. A further investigation led to the 54-year-old Lower Makefield Township woman being cited for public drunkenness.
FRAUD — 300 block of Tall Meadow Lane, reported at 5:12 p.m. The complainant reported the victim falling to a sextortion scam.
July 12
HIT & RUN ACCIDENT ARREST — Stony Hill Road and Route 332, reported at 10:28 a.m. The complainant reported being struck in the rear when slowing for traffic, and the striking vehicle left the scene. Further investigation led to the identity of the driver of the striking vehicle. The 64-year-old Southampton man received a summons for accidents involving damage to attended property and related offenses.
