Snapshot: Summerseat Sparkles In Shining Sun
Yardley photographer Josh Friedman captures landscape frames of scenes throughout Bucks County in this Patch photo feature.

MORRISVILLE, PA — Summerseat was shining.
On a late September morning, Yardley photographer Josh Friedman headed to Gen. George Washington's headquarters during the Revolutionary War when the Colonial Army was encamped in this neck of the woods.
Friedman had just finished David Hacket Fischer's fascinating, Pulitzer Prize-winning book about the Revolutionary War called "Washington's Crossing."

He said the book was "particularly interesting" due to the fact that several war locations are right in the backyard of Bucks County, New Jersey, and the Philadelphia region.
"I was inspired to visit and photograph many of the Revolutionary War landmarks, both in Bucks County, and Mercer County, N.J.

Friedman recently took this snapshot of the historic Summerseat House, Washington's headquarters between Dec. 8-14, 1776, just before the famous crossing of the Delaware River, on Christmas night of 1776, and the battles of Trenton and Princeton.
Friedman said he took the photo as the rising sun peeked out between the house and a tree, using an HDR (high dynamic range) photograph from three exposures that he merged.
