Yardley Beer And Wine Fest 2020 Canceled
The festival, scheduled for October, is the latest local event to be called off due to the coronavirus outbreak.
YARDLEY, PA — The Yardley Beer and Wine Fest, which had been scheduled for October, has been canceled due to concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.
Organizers on Monday said it became impossible to plan for the festival not knowing what the status of the outbreak would be during the event, which was set for Oct. 17.
"Without any other guidelines to follow, we have to assume that social distancing in some format will still be in place," organizers said in a social media post. "The nature of the festival itself is dependent on several hundred people coming together for one day, in close proximity to one another, in a social and enjoyable environment.

"It would be pretty much impossible for our volunteer staff to observe the increased standards of hygiene and security that are essential to maintain a totally safe system of dispensing beer and wine on the scale required."
With Bucks County now in the least-restrictive green phase of Pennsylvania's coronavirus plan, bars and restaurants may allow patrons inside, with social distancing and other safety restrictions in place.

Dr. David Damsker, director of the Bucks County Department of Health, has said Bucks County has had "pretty good compliance" from bars since they were allowed to let patrons back inside.
But elsewhere in Pennsylvania, spikes of coronavirus have been linked to a lack of social distancing at bars and nightclubs. In Allegheny County, officials renewed the ban on indoor consumption of alcohol at bars last week after a surge in cases.
The Yardley Beer and Wine Festival was to have taken place on Delaware Avenue.
"We know how disappointed people will be at this decision, but our priority has to be that we take the correct decision now to ensure that all of you will be fit and well and able to attend the 2021 Yardley Beer and Wine Festival," organizers said.
That festival now is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2021.
