YARDLEY, PA — A couple from Yardley presented a check for $10,000 to Chief Joseph Kelly of the Yardley Borough Police Department on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Former Councilwoman Sandi Brady and her husband Mark presented the money to the Police Chief to be used for the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund, which was formed "for the purpose of providing scholarships to the children of police officers, firefighters, rescue squad, correctional officers and emergency service personnel who are killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty," according to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.

The Bradys presented the check to Chief Kelly to show their appreciation for everything the police department, and Kelly himself, has done for the community; Kelly was shot while helping a county probation officer in August. He recovered after having suffered a gunshot wound to the ear and hand.
