Coronavirus concerns have cost Lower Bucks County yet another annual tradition with the announcement, made Monday.

YARDLEY, PA — The coronavirus has claimed yet another beloved tradition in Lower Bucks County.

Yardley Harvest Day 2020, which was scheduled for Sept. 26, has been canceled over concerns about the virus, organizers announced on Monday.

"COVID-19 is spiking in other areas and health experts say a second wave is possible in eastern Pennsylvania in the fall," the Yardley Harvest Day Committee said in a social media post. "The committee is disappointed that it won't be able to hold the festival this year but feels this is the only choice given the situation."

The fair, which features entertainment, crafts, food vendors, kids activities and more, was to have celebrated its 53rd year in Yardley. Started by the Yardley Historical Association in the late '60s, the festival originally was just on Canal Street before expanding to much of downtown.

Yardley Borough Manager Paula Johnson said a date for Yardley Harvest Day 2021 is expected to be announced at borough council's next meeting, on July 7.
