Yardley Wrong-Way Driver Arrested For Drugs, Firearms (ICYMI)

YARDLEY, PA — A 20-year-old man who was driving the wrong way on a one-way street in Yardley early Sunday was arrested with enough drugs to sell and a semi-automatic handgun, according to police.

According to Yardley Borough Police, the incident happened at 12:48 a.m. on Sunday. They say officers patrolling downtown saw a vehicle going the wrong way on the one-way street and stopped the driver in the 200 block of South Main Street.

After an initial investigation, officers requested a search warrant, which led to the discovery of a semi-automatic pistol, ammunition and magazines and "drugs consistent with sale/distribution," according to police.

They say officers also found drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

The man from Croydon was arrested and charged with operating the wrong way on a one-way street, carrying a firearm without a license and improper transfer of a firearm. Additional drug charges are pending, Yardley Borough Police Chief Joseph Kelly said on Monday.

The man was arraigned and taken to Bucks County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance, according to police.
