RHODE ISLAND — The discount clothing and footwear chain of Bob's Stores will close its one remaining location in Rhode Island this month after its parent company — GoDigital Media Sales Group — said it was unable to secure the necessary financing to restructure the business.

The liquidation will follow the Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring petition filed on June 18.

"We regret that our financial position necessitated the liquidation of Bob's Stores," Bob's Stores President Dave Barton said. "Bob's has been a stalwart of our local communities for nearly 70 years, and we know our customers remember us as having been there for major moments in their lives.

"We remain grateful to our vendors, suppliers, customers, and employees for all of their support over the years."

Liquidation sales began this past weekend at 30 to 70 percent off with all stores expected to close by the end of the month.

Bob's final Rhode Island location is in Cranston. In addition, there are six remaining Massachusetts locations — Middleton, Attleboro, Fitchburg, Holyoke, Randolph, and Westborough — plus nine Connecticut locations and one New Hampshire location in Salem.

The closures do not affect the Eastern Mountain Sports locations that had shared space with Bob's Stores brands.

Gift cards and merchandise credits will be honored through the close of business on July 14. All sales are final during the store closing event.

No returns will be accepted. Exchanges will be accepted through July 14.
