Great White Sharks Tagged Near Rhode Island Beaches: WPRI

The Atlantic Shark Institute tagged two great white sharks off the coast of Rhode Island, WPRI reported.

The Atlantic Shark Institute tagged two great white sharks off the coast of Rhode Island in the past week, WPRI reported, with institute Director Jon Dodd calling the summer a "sharky one."

In addition to the two great white sharks, a pair of dead sand tiger sharks washed up in Jamestown and Westerly, WPRI said.

"Dodd said someone who saw the dead shark in Jamestown, which appeared to have propellor-related injuries, sent pictures to the institute," the station reported. "By the time scientists were able to get there, the sand tiger had been swept back out to sea."
