The Action Network — "a leading source for sports betting news, information, and analysis" — ranked Rhode Island 23rd on its list of likeliest states to spot a ghost, just ahead of Virginia and trailing Wyoming.

The state with the best chance of a ghost sighting? That would be Texas.

"Texas claims the top spot in our spectral survey, with an impressive 5.15% implied probability of ghostly encounters," according to the Action Network.

"The Lone Star State’s sheer number of ghost sightings and an impressive 558 ghost towns provide a lot of spooky potential," the Action Network said. "What else sets Texas apart? Judging from their Google searches, Texans are actively seeking out the paranormal."

Placing second was West Virginia with Maine coming in third.
