Providence College Women’s Hockey Drops Season Opener To Quinnipiac 5-2
The Friars have to chance to get even with Quinnipiac Saturday in the second half of the home-and-home.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Providence College women’s hockey team dropped its season opener to Quinnipiac University 5-2 Friday at Schneider Arena.
The Friars dropped to 0-1-0 on the year while Quinnipiac improved to 3-0-0. Senior Reichen Kirchmair recorded a goal and an assist in the loss.

Providence struck first at 8:19 of the opening period on a goal from sophomore Jessie Pellerin. Pellerin was set up by a feed from behind the net by Kirchmair. Senior Sarah Davies added the secondary assist.

Quinnipiac responded two minutes later when Alex Law tied the game. Kahlen Lamarche and Ella Sennick were credited with the assists.

The Bobcats outshot the Friars 32-22.

Providence has a chance to get its revenge on Quinnipiac on Saturday in the second half of the home-and-home when the Friars and Bobcats face off at 3 p.m. Saturday at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden, Connecticut.
