Rhode Island America's 2nd Most Expensive Wedding State: Study

Rhode Island is the second most expensive state to have a wedding, according to a recent study.

The average cost of a wedding in Rhode Island is $49,180, according to the study conducted by wedding retailer JJ’s House.

Rhode Island trails only New Jersey, where the average wedding costs $54,400, the JJ's House study said.

And as pricey as the average wedding is already, one can only imagine the cost of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's ceremony and celebration driving it up if they decide to tie the knot in the Ocean State, as has been suggested.

The JJ's House study examined not only wedding costs, but other wedding challenges, such as the number of wedding venues in each state, the number of weddings celebrated and the number of weddings per 1,000 people.

Overall, Rhode Island is the ninth most difficult state in America in which to have a wedding, according to the JJ's House study.

New Jersey — the costliest — was also the most difficult, the study determined.

"New Jersey ranks first as America's hardest state for getting married," according to the study's findings.

"Couples here spend $54K on average for their wedding, nearly twice the national average and about $7K more than second-place New York," it said. "The state has only 139 wedding venues, which works out to fewer than 2 venues per 100K residents, the lowest availability in the country. About 45K weddings take place in New Jersey each year, but with so few venue options, couples face competition when booking their preferred location."
