Rhode Island Gov. McKee: 'Not The Time For A Utility Rate Increase'
Costs are rising nationwide and families are already burdened, the governor said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Gov. Dan McKee spoke out against Rhode Island Energy's proposed rate hikes
“This is not the time for a utility rate increase," McKee said in a media release.
"With costs rising nationwide and families already burdened, my focus remains fixed on affordability for every Rhode Islander," McKee said

“The $150 million ratepayer relief settlement my administration negotiated with Rhode Island Energy must be put back before the (public utility commission) and approved," the governor said. "That plan would have delivered direct savings to Rhode Islanders — about $24.50 a month in electric relief and $47.50 a month in gas relief over the next two winters."
