Rhode Island Power Outage Affects More Than 30K Customers
Rhode Island was whipped by winds gusting up to 60 mph Friday.
More than 30,000 customers without power Friday as winds gusting up to 60 mph whipped Rhode Island.
That number dropped to less than 30,000 about 1:30 p.m. as Rhode Island Energy put the number at 29,978, with the overwhelming majority in the Providence area.
The high winds were expected to die down about 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
