Rhode Island Safest State In US For Driving In Bad Weather: Study

The study analyzed NHTSA crash data from all 50 states.

Rhode Island is the safest state in all of America when it comes to driving in bad weather, according to a recent study.

The study, conducted by Texas personal injury law firm Angel Reyes & Associates, "analyzed NHTSA crash records from all 50 states, focusing specifically on accidents caused by rain and snow," according to a media release.

"Rain, snow, and ice don’t just slow traffic. They also make roads deadly," the release said.

"Across the U.S., around 1.2 million weather-related crashes occur each year, according to federal data, and nearly 5,000 of those end in fatalities," the release said. "Whether it’s torrential downpours in the South or blizzards blanketing the Midwest, treacherous weather can turn an ordinary drive into a life-threatening situation."

It turned out Rhode Island was the safest — or the least dangerous — when it comes to driving in bad weather.

The Ocean State logged just 0.36 crashes in bad weather per 100,000 people, the Angel Reyes & Associates study put forth.

"Bad weather," for the purposes of the study, means rain in snow.

Arizona finished right after Rhode Island with 0.39 crashes per 100,000 people.

The most dangerous state for bad weather driving was Wyoming, with 2.71 crashes per 100,000 people, according to the study.

Wyoming was followed by West Virginia and Mississippi.

A separate study conducted California bail bonds service Alana’s Bail Bonds found Rhode Island was also the safest state for driving during the holiday season.
