Rhode Islanders Getting Paid
Rhode Island ranks 14th in hourly pay out of the 50 states and Washington, D.C., according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Rhode Island ranked 14th in the United States for hourly pay in the month of June, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Rhode Islanders averaged $36.38 an hour in June, the Department of Labor said, just trailing workers in Virginia by 11 cents an hour.
Workers in Washington, D.C., topped all 50 states, making $54.21 an hour in June, the Department of Labor report said. The District of Columbia was followed by Washington, where workers $42.26 an hour, and then by Massachusetts, where the hourly rate was $42 an hour.

At the bottom of the list was Mississippi, whose workers were paid just $27.95 an hour, the Department of Labor said.
