NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI — North Providence have issued a shelter-in-place Wednesday on Stephanie Drive and Meadow View Boulevard for an apparent police standoff in the neighborhood.

"We are still working an active police incident, and for everyone's safety, please remain indoors!" North Providence police said on Twitter. "For everyone's sake, please remain indoors!"

No further details were immediately available, but NBC 10 reported that a man with a gun barricaded himself with a woman in his Stephanie Drive home.
